<dc:description>This paper gives a brief overview of recent research on object perception and visual attention processes. We suggest two object-based attention mechanisms; an early-selection mechanism that uses perceptual grouping principles, and a late-selection mechanism that operates on more abstract representation with higher visual features. We also argue the distinction between two levels of perceptual representation in object perception; entry level at which dissimilar objects are perceived, and subordinate level at which similar objects such as faces are discriminated.</dc:description>
