Although the pain and sufferings of motherhood tended to be underestimated or ignored in the past, now the feminist criticism is reassessing motherhood and childbearing. In this paper I would like to discuss Katherine Mansfield and her mother, focusing their ambivalent relationship which vacillates between love and hate.
