When we contrast Japanese with those languages such as Turkish and other northern Asiatic languages, while grammatical structures are recognized as being of the so-called Altaic type, some peculiarities of Japanese might be brought out in relief. In this paper, the author would like to discuss some important points of Japanese, i.e. the functions of locative particles.
