| 内容記述 | The primary objective of this paper is to demonstrate that for the proper analysis of the combination of two Japanese verbs, (1) V + V combination such as hasiri-dasu (run-begin) "to begin to run, " and (2) V1 + te + V2 combination such as hasiri-te ( > hasit-te) -iru (run-be ing/run-have en) "to be running/to have run, " it is essential to regard the first verb in the conjunctive form as a Base Verb or BV and then classify the second verb of this combination as an Aspectual Affix, or AA which behaves as a verbal element that adds an aspectual meaning to the preceding BV (= V1) which expresses the core lexical meaning" of the V1 - te- V2 verbal construction. The construction I am going to deal with is V1 + te + V2 combination, where such V2 functions as an aspectual affix and can therefore be labeled as AA namely an aspectual affix. This construction behaves like a single unit and is distinguished from V1 + te + V2 combination where V2 is regard-ed as a full verb. There is good evidence to support my claim. | |||||
